This is a real hen's teeth level dram! The bottle was one of the last whiskies made at Balblair by the then owner R J (Bertie) Cumming (pictured here when production restarted after the Second World War) for his grandson. He sold the distillery to Ballantine's in 1970, but not before laying down a few casks for family members.

This bottle comes from a small cask laid down in 1967 and bottled 22 years later in 1989 by the family. They had to sook the whisky out of the cask and into bottles, hence the increasingly squinty nature of the labels as the bottles were filled!

It was bottled at cask strength and is 26 and 2/3rds fl ozs There are very, very few of these bottles left in the world, and at SWA we're immensely proud to be able to auction one of them.

Please note the label states 70 proof but these were bottled at cask strength of which there is no record.
