Winning bid: £25

Deanston started life as a cotton mill in 1785 but by the 1960s the mill closed and it began producing single malt whisky in 1967.

Situated just a few miles north-west of Stirling, and like Glengoyne, lies just inside the catchment area for Highland single malts. They are proudly self-sufficient, producing their own electricity at a hydro facility at the distillery. Owned by Burn Stewart Distillers, they are enjoying something of a surge in popularity. The majority of their distillate is used in the Scottish Leader blend.

This is their contribution to the current trend for Virgin Oak expressions.

46.3% ABV / 70cl
