Lot number: 064-2323
Winning bid: £210
Abandoning age statements for vintages in 2007, Balblair is owned by InverHouse Distillers and boasts one of the oldest histories of any distillery in Scotland. The distillery owes a huge debt to lawyer and energetic business man Robert "Bertie" Cumming who purchased the distillery in 1948 after years of silence and went on to expand and modernise the distillery.
Bottled in celebration of 15 years of The Whisky Exchange website being online, this is a rare thing from Balblair – a single cask whisky solely matured in a first-fill sherry butt. Naturally very dark in colour, it's packed full of sherry flavour while still showing Balblair's fruity distillery character.
