Situated on the Northern island of Hokkaido, the Yoichi distillery was bulit by Masataka Takersuru in what he thought was the ideal site for a whisky distillery. The stills are direct fired, something that has been abandoned by all but a handful of Scottish distilleries, and they describe their whisky as a, "rich, peaty and masculine malt."
An incredibly well received whisky showcasing the very best of Japanese whisky. This has now been discontinued due to the shortage of aged stock at Nikka.
