The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore has been described as the Grande Dame of the island. It still has it's own floor maltings which make up about 30% of their requirements. Their No. 1 vaults are the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland and the only one below sea level.
This whisky comes from four American Virgin Oak casks and one First Fill Oloroso Butt that were re-racked and married in the original wood. This received a warm review in Forbes Lifestyle section.
