The oldest distillery on Islay, Bowmore has been described as the Grande Dame of the island. It still has it's own floor maltings which make up about 30% of their requirements. Their No. 1 vaults are the oldest maturation warehouse in Scotland and the only one below sea level.
For many people, this was the best standard bottling Bowmore, with a well-rounded palate, great complexity, and citrus, chocolate and brine mingling with the peat.
Now replaced by the 18 Year Old
