Bruichladdich was established in 1881 and has changed hands many times over the years. Owned by French spirit group Remy Martin, Bruichladdich distill, mature and bottle their whisky on site as well as using barley from the surrounding farms. Since their renaissance in 2001 their range of whiskies are bottled without added colour or chill filtration and at 46%ABV and above. They are pioneers of cask management, peating levels and presentation.

One day an Islay fisherman came across a tiny yellow submarine, the MoD subsequently denied it was theirs. They sheepishly slipped into Islay one morning and took it back. Bruichladdich responded by issuing a limited release 1991 Laddie - Weapons of Mass Destruction II The Yellow Submarine.
