Port Ellen 12 Year Old Wilson & Morgan Barrel Selection
Lot number: 066-1262
Winning bid: £450
The story of Wilson & Morgan is inseparably linked to the history of the Venetian family of the Rossis. In the 1920's wine and oil merchant Giuseppe Rossi, grandfather of today's chairman of Wilson & Morgan, Fabio Rossi, moved from Venice to the mainland and settled in Treviso, a picturesque and thriving town. In the 1960's, the company thrived and Mario Rossi began to import whisky from the land of its origin - Scotland.
In 1992, Fabio Rossi found that malts such as Ardbeg, Macallan, Springbank and Port Ellen were very sought after in Italy. He began picking specific barrels to be bottled at Cadenheads as he believed they could deliver on the high standards he required for his selection.
