Don Jose
Don Jose Varela Blanco was the founder of the republic of Panamas first sugar mill in 1908. After much persuading by his three sons, he set up the distillery in 1936. His sons have now ran the distillery since his death in 1944. The distillery is most famous for its production of Ron Abuelo rum.

Booker, McConnell Ltd are food wholesalers who once operated the sugar industry in Guyana. Tate and Lyle and Booker signed over a management contract with GuySuCo (Guyana Sugar Corporation) who is now the country's largest producer of sugar. One of the sugar factories owned and ran by GuySuCO is Uitvlugt.

Established in 1918, the Caroni Distillery in Trinidad and Tobago operated at near full capacity until 1993. Unfortunately, due to industry consolidation, the distillery closed in 2002, though casks are still making their way on to the market.
