Dalwhinnie Winter's Gold
Dalwhinnie is one of the highest distilleries in Scotland at 1164 feet above sea level. The name Dalwhinnie is derived from the Gaelic word Dail-coinneeamh, which means meeting place, referring to the meeting of ancient cattle drovers' routes through the mountains.
Winter's gold is made from spirit distilled only between October and March. The theory being, that the colder temperature of the copper stills during the winter months intensifies the character of the whisky.
43% ABV / 70cl
Glenmorangie A Midwinter Night's Dram
One of the world's best selling old single malts, Glenmorangie's spirit flows from Scotland's tallest stills, over 16 feet tall for those that are counting. Over the years Bill Lumsden has been at the forefront of research into the influence of the cask on whisky and as such Glenmorangie is the leading exponent of whisky 'finishes', be that sherry, wine or virgin oak. The distillery selects its wood from the Mark Twain forest in the Ozark mountains and ensures that the wood is air dried rather than kilned.
The Midwinter's Dram is a limited edition UK exclusive, matured in American White Oak Bourbon casks and then finished in the same Oloroso Sherry casks used for Glenmorangie's excellent Lasanta expression.
43% ABV / 70cl x 2
