Lot number: 072-0487

Winning bid: £60

The whisky distilled at the Glengyle distillery in Campbeltown is bottled under the name Kilkerran as Loch Lomond distillers use that name for a vatted malt.

The distillery was originally founded in 1872 by William Mitchell but closed in the 1920s.

Some 79 years later one of his ancestors, Hedley Wright bought the distillery and installed Ben Wyvis's old stills.

The spirit that has been produced has been subject to much experimentation, peating levels, cask types and even quadruple distillation being utilised.

Kilkerran 'Work in Progress' Single Malt is the fourth in the interim series to allow fans to see how Springbank's new distillery is developing.
