Masataka Taketsuru is known as grand father of the Japanese whisky industry. As a young man he travelled to Scotland to study Organic Chemistry at University of Glasgow during the summer of 1919. Later he started working in Hazelburn before it was absorbed by Springbank.
Tsuru means crane in Japanese and not surprisingly the decanter have been decorated with cranes. As we all know Nikka is discontinuing a lot of its releases and age statements, this one included. This crane is going to be missed.
Age: 17 years old
43% ABV / 70cl
