Winning bid: £340.00
Lot number: 072-3583

Although a relative youngster - the distillery started production on the 17th of August 1995 - this distillery has quickly won an army of fans that have been drawn to the quality of the whisky produced in the shadow of the nesting site of a pair of golden eagles.

The Illicit Stills is the first of a trilogy of three limited edition Arran Malts which are a nod to the rich history of whisky distillation on Arran and form The Smugglers' series.

With the Smugglers’ Series Vol. I ‘The Illicit Stills’ Arran pays homage to its forebears with an Arran dram of robust body and a heavier peat influence more redolent of the whisky produced on the island in days gone by.

56.4% ABV / 70cl

Bottle Number: One of only 8,700 bottles released

"The High Seas" is the second release in the Smugglers' Series, and Arran has used a marriage of peated whisky matured in Bourbon casks, with whisky aged in rum barrels to illustrate the reliance these pioneering whisky pirates would have had on illicit, black market liquor for maturation.

55.4% ABV / 70cl
