Amarone is a true behemoth of the wine world, boasting a distinctive flavour profile courtesy of its complex production method; the grapes (the majority of which tend to be Corvina) are air-dried for around 16 weeks before being pressed, giving a concentrated, complex, raisiny character. The 1959 vintage in the Valpolicella region was generally rated as "Good".
