The largest distillery on Islay, Caol Ila sits on the Sound of Islay overlooking the picturesque island of Jura. Most of Caol Ila ends up in blends, but it also produces a wide variety of peated and un-peated single malt expressions.
The Bell's managers challenge was a competition held between the managers of the various distilleries who's malt went into Bell's 8 year old blend. Each had to submit a sample to be judged by a panel of writers, who voted this Caol Ila the winner.
