Established in 1775, Glenturret is considered the oldest working distillery in Scotland, although there are some who dispute this. It is also home to some of the most traditional working practices in Scotland. For example, it has the only mash tun that has to be stirred by hand. It is also the home of the Famous Grouse Experience Visitor Centre which is one of the most modern and highly thought of tourist attractions in the whisky world.
The Famous Grouse Experience has been naming its distillery exclusive Bottle Your Own casks after famous Perthshire citizens. The Gerard Butler limited edition whisky has been aged for 12 years in American oak ex-Sherry casks.
