Lot number: 074-2068

Winning bid: £160

One of the world's best-selling old single malts, Glenmorangie's spirit flows from Scotland's tallest stills, over 16 feet tall for those that are counting. Over the years Bill Lumsden has been at the forefront of research into the influence of the cask on whisky and as such Glenmorangie is the leading exponent of whisky 'finishes', be that sherry, wine or virgin oak. The distillery selects its wood from the Mark Twain forest in the Ozark mountains and ensures that the wood is air dried rather than kilned.

Glenmorangie Tarlogan displays all the sweet purity of the Tarlogie Spring while maintaining a classic Glenmorangie backbone. Aged in virgin oak as well as ex-bourbon casks.

43% ABV 70cl

The Tayne

This Travel Retail release commemorates the local story of a sunken Spanish galleon, said to have broken off from the Armada in 1588.

Cask Type: Finished Amontillado sherry casks

The Duthac

Inspired by King James IV's annual pilgrimage to the shrine of St Duthac, the patron saint of Tain, Dr Bill Lumsden has created a whisky fit for a King.

Representing the two side of the the King's character are two parcels of whisky that were initially aged in Bourbon casks and then split with some being finished in the King of Sherries, Pedro Ximenez - exemplifying the King's tempered, diplomatic side - and the other finished in Virgin Oak casks - representing the King's fiery impulsive nature.

Cask Type: Bourbon, Virgin Oak and Pedro Ximenez Casks
