Ichiro Akuto, is the grandson of the founder of Hanyu distillery. Although the distillery was dismantled in 2004, Ichiro saved the remaining 400 casks. This is the product of one of those.

In 2006, Jeroen Koetsier from Full Proof Holland ordered a half cask of Hanyu. He was well pleased with this half so he just ordered the other half shortly after. The labels themselves was designed by Hans Dillesse and two version exists. Batch 1 and 2 and here is where it gets really interesting. Jeroen used the information that Ichiro provided and a small miss translation led to spelling of pancheon (Batch 1). When he later got the rest of next cask he figured there were no need to put batch 2 on the label since he corrected this mistake.
