Glen Grant 1972 The Dark Side Of The Moon Velier
Lot number: 076-0769
Winning bid: £400
Glen Grant apparently comes "From the Heath Covered Mountains of Scotia". Founded in 1840 by brothers James and John Grant, in 1861 they were the first to install electric light in the distillery. It remains the biggest selling single malt in Italy and in 2006 the distillery was bought by Campari for £115 million.
This Glen Grant has been bottled by Signatory Vintage on behalf of Velier. Serge awarded it 90 points on Whiskyfun.com, comparing it to Macallans of similar vintage.
So top marks for the whisky; it's just a shame the same can't be said about their spelling. We know people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, but "Edimburgh", really!?
