Masataka Taketsuru is known as grandfather of the Japanese whisky industry. He travelled to Scotland to study Organic Chemistry at the University of Glasgow during the summers, and later started working in Hazelburn before it was absorbed by Springbank. On returning to Japan, he helped to establish the first Japanese Whisky Distillery.

These bottles were all bottled for the 70th Anniversary of Nikka; two malts, one grain and finally a blend containing all the malts and grain.
