Wolf of Badenoch takes its name from Scottish nobleman Alexander Stewart, The Earl of Buchan. He earned the name due to his notoriously cruel nature, and is said to have died after losing a game of chess to the devil.

This single malt is from a secret Speyside distillery, and bottled by the same family company who previously owned North of Scotland grain distillery. Unusually it has been finished in casks that previously held a liqueur made from plums.
