Lot number: 079-2604

Winning bid: £95

Buffalo Trace is a really classy bourbon from the eponymous distillery that has been responsible for some truly outstanding products in recent years, such as Rip Van Winkle, W.L. Weller, George T. Stagg and Blantons, to name a few.

This bottle is part of the Buffalo Trace Single Oak Project, which has to be the most extensive bourbon project ever carried out. They selected 96 individual trees, which after careful cutting, yielded 192 barrels. Each barrel was charred and seasoned to varying levels and filled with whiskies of differing proofs. Then finally the barrels were ages in different warehouse styles. Phew!

After all that, this bottle represents one of the 7 different critical variables across 192 bottles for a total of 1,396 taste combinations. None of the 192 bottles in the complete set is exactly alike.

This was voted best of all batches!

Barrel: #165

45% ABV / 37.5cl
