Founded in 2004 by Ichiro Akuto, and operational from 2008, it was the first new Japanese distillery since 1973.
This is an interesting vatting of two whiskies. One was produced at the Hanyu distillery, prior to its dismantling in 2004.
Ichiro Akuto, grandson of the distillery's founder, salvaged some casks and, after setting up the Chichibu distillery in 2008, blended the old and new whiskies together to create this little number.
