Sold in America during prohibition for medical purposes, due to the Surgeon General refusing to believe it could be drunk for pleasure, Laphroaig was awarded a Royal Warrant by Prince Charles in 1994. The biggest selling single malt from Islay, Laphroaig is one of the last distilleries using its own floor maltings.
Laphroaig celebrated their 190th anniversary back in 2005, and, understandably, it came and went with slightly less fanfare than their bicentenary in 2015. The only notable liquid celebration of that earlier milestone was this 19 year old single cask release, which yielded a measly 175 bottles. Needless to say, it doesn't appear that often!
