Lot number: 085-6395

Winning bid: £155

Strathclyde Grain Distillery is located in the Gorbals district of Glasgow, and is rather unassuming to behold, which lends to the fact that it often goes unnoticed by pedestrians as they dally down along the banks of the Clyde. Founded on the site of an old cotton mill, the distillery was originally constructed by London distiller, Seager Evans in 1927. In 1936, production shifted focus from supplying neutral grain spirits for gin into the realms of Scotch production for the ‘Long John’ division. Strathclyde has supplied grains to Ballantine’s and Teacher’s blends in the past, and is now part of the Chivas Brothers stable and owned by Pernod Ricard.
