Tomatin distillery was founded in 1897 and spent most of its life producing whisky for the blending industry. In the 1970s it was Scotland's biggest producer of single malt whisky. In 1986 Tomatin distillery became the first fully Japanese-owned Scottish distillery when Takara Shuzo joined forces with trading company Okura.
A superb malt from the Highland distillery, Tomatin. This is more of a Speyside style malt, and it was awarded 93 points at the International Review of Spirits in 2006 with the comment "exceptional quality".
