Lot number: 089-2853

Winning bid: £40

The Highland distillery of Knockdhu was built in 1877, marking the genesis of The Distillers Company (DCL), who would later evolve into industry giant Diageo. Used almost exclusively as blending stock, It didn't become known as a single malt until (under the new ownership of Inver House) its first official expression was released onto the market in 1990.

After a short time, the rather wise decision was taken to create the brand name “anCnoc”, and while it's pronunciation may not be immediately obvious, it had the desired effect of avoiding confusion with Knockando.

Part of the new range of peated whiskies from the distillery, The Cutter is named after the hand tool used to cut peat from drier, shallower bogs.

46% ABV / 70cl
