After being founded by John Duff & Co in 1897, the distillery was mothballed for 65 years with only its floor maltings being used for the Longmorn distillery next door. After experiencing great success under the ownership of Billy Walker and his partners, it won Distillery of the Year from Malt Advocate magazine in 2007 and has received rave reviews for its peated and un-peated expressions alike.
The distillery was purchased by Brown-Forman in 2016 - the same year they bought GlenDronach and Glenglassaugh - and in 2017 Rachel Barrie took over as master blender.
This bottle was released to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the reopening of the BenRiach by Billy Walker, Wayne Kieswetter and Geoff Bell. This whisky was distilled on the second day of the new regime.
