These five make a superb collection. Port Ellen has been closed for many years, the last of its maritime malt much prized. The Caol Ila bottlings show a fresh, sea-smoky style, to different degrees. Lagavulin's deep intensity needs no introduction, the 12 year old's new spirit contrasting with the richness of the 16 year old.

Caol Ila has a fresh, sweetly fruity and smooth-bodied house style.

Age introduces a golden colour and complexity to this 18 year old Coal Ila, which is softer than the 12 year old.

Lagavulin 12 Year Old
A straight, cask-strength special release of Lagavulin, this pale, very medicinal 12 year old will appeal to those who like their Islay malts direct.

Deep-coloured and deep chested, Lagavulin 16 year old makes a rich, sweet contrast to the 12 year old.

Port Ellen 27 Year Old 6th Release
For many THE Islay malt. Has attained near cult status. Port Ellen distillery was mothballed in 1983, then demolished. The warehouse is still there, allowing Diageo to release annual bottlings. No more can be made, so these are incredibly sought after.
