Lot number: 092-2745

Winning bid: £35

A lot containing ten 5cl miniature bottles of whisky in assorted sets, including: two Ardbeg; two Famous Grouse; and six Bushmills.

Ardbeg

Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed, on and off, for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie. Sitting on the southern coastline, the current distillery was founded in 1815, the original having been destroyed by excise men. The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character.

1 x 10 Years Old, 40% ABV / 5cl

1 x 17 Years Old, 46% ABV / 5cl

Famous Grouse

Created in 1896 by Mathew Gloag, it was intitally called the Grouse Blend but the 'Famous' prefix was added in 1905 after the success of the brand. Owned by the Edrington Group, it is stablemates with Highland Park and Macallan and was awarded the Royal Warrant in 1984.

2 x 40% ABV / 5cl

Bushmills

Claiming bragging rights for being the world's oldest whiskey distillery (note the 'e'), this is a selection of Bushmills' Irish whiskies.

2 x Bushmills Single Malt 10 Year Old, 40% ABV / 5cl

2 x Black Bush, 40% ABV / 5cl

2 x Original Bushmills Irish Whiskey, 40% ABV / 5cl
