Lot number: 096-01478

Winning bid: £260

Founded in 1923 by Shinjiro Torii, Yamazaki is Japan's first bona fide whisky distillery. Sitting in between Osaka and Kyoto - served by the converging rivers of Katsura, Uji, and Kizu - the stills are varied in shape, size, lyne arm position and some are direct-fired while others are steam-heated. All of which allows for a creation of many different styles of spirit destined for blending as well as bottling as single malt.

An interesting and tasty dram comes to us from Suntory. Following the success of the Distillers Reserve editions of Hakushu and Yamazaki, they have decided to release an older, more exclusive limited edition of the Yamazaki single malt.

The 2016 release is distinguishable from previous releases by virtue of the image depicting one of Yamazaki's warehouses on the bottle, as opposed to previous releases which bore images such as stills or the distillery itself. Oh, it also says 2016 on the label.
