Lot number: 096-06213

Winning bid: £60

When the spirit first flowed from the Abhainn Dearg - or Red River - Distillery in September 2008 it marked the birth of the first distillery on the island of Lewis since 1840 when the Stornoway distillery closed. Founded by Marko Tayburn, the distillery is known as the most remote whisky-producing site in Scotland and part of the building is a converted fish farm.

This release came from a small number of casks numbered - 4. 5. 6 & 7 - all American Oak, bourbon casks laid down when the distillery started production in 2008.

Bottled by hand, the whisky is non chill filtered and at its natural colour. The bottle bears the signature of Mark Tayburn, the owner of Abhainn Dearg.
