Based in Annan very close to the border with England, the newly opened Annandale Distillery was painstakingly built by husband and wife, David Thomson and Teresa Church to reach the former glory of the original distillery dating back to 1830. After John Walker & Sons purchased the distillery for £2,000 in 1896, it only took a couple of decades before they decided to mothball it and focus on their famous blend, leaving the former distillery to be used for the production of Provost porridge oats. At the end of 2014, two whisky styles began to be produced and known as the mellow Man O'Words (aka Robert Burns) and the smoky Man O'Sword (aka Robert the Bruce): they came onto the market in 2018.
