Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed on and off for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie. Sitting on the southern coastline of Islay, the current distillery was founded in 1815; the original having been destroyed by excise men. The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character. Due to its huge upsurge in popularity, Ardbeg has added Ardbeg An Oa to its core malt range of the original three expressions: the 10-year-old; Uigeadail; and Corryvreckan.

Very Young

The first part in the Young series from Ardbeg, tracking the development of Ardbeg whisky all the way up to the standard Ardbeg at 10 years old.

Distilled: 1998

Bottled: 2004

58.3% ABV / 70cl

Still Young

Due to its huge upsurge in popularity, Ardbeg has added Ardbeg An Oa to its core malt range of the original three expressions: the 10-year-old; Uigeadail; and Corryvreckan.

The Still Young is the second release in Ardbeg's journey to the new 10 year old.

Distilled: 1998

Bottled: 2006

56.2% ABV / 70cl

Almost There

The third release on the way back to recovery. Following on from the Very Young and Still Young releases, this was the third and final Ardbeg before the new 10 year old hit the shelves.

Distilled: 1998

Bottled: 2007

54.1% ABV / 70cl

Renaissance

The conclusion of the Very Young, Still Young and Almost There series, this bottle proudly proclaims: "We've arrived." The Renaissance celebrates the rebirth of Ardbeg after the Glenmorangie takeover.

Distilled: 1998

Bottled: 2008

55.9% ABV / 70cl
