The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

A new four-part range of Scotch whisky, The Macallan 1824 Series, which is discerned by the colour of the liquid rather than age.

The Series replaces The Macallan’s fine oak and sherry oak expressions from 10 Year Old to 17 Year Old, making the 18 Year Old the youngest whisky in its portfolio with an age statement.

With the absence of age statements, The Macallan has designed the packaging of the Series to reflect the colour, flavour and price point of each whisky.
