A straight rye whiskey named after the infamous Sazerac coffee house in New Orleans which played a massive role in creating America's first cocktail, the Sazerac. The cocktail itself is to be dated back to the pre-Civil War era - around the 1850s - and since 2008, has been New Orleans' official cocktail. In 1869, the coffee house was purchased by bartender Thomas H Handy and began to work exclusively with liquor.
