Lot number: 101-05976

Winning bid: £800

The Macallan distillery was founded in 1824 by Alexander Reid, a barley farmer and school teacher. Now owned by the Edrington Group, The Macallan prides itself on its Six Pillars, which include its curiously small stills, very narrow 'cut' of new make spirit and exceptional cask management. It is the most sought after whisky for collectors, regularly setting records at auctions all round the world.

Folio 3

Available only from the distillery and with a beautifully illustrated hardback book. the Archival Series continues to rediscover Macallan advertisements from the 1970s, 80s, and 90s. The illustration used for the front of this third folio was from a Victorian edition of Punch magazine and highlights how whisky is best made in cold weather.

The book contains a USB stick continuing the advertising archive.

Cask Type: Sherry Oak

43% ABV / 70cl

Please note there is an issue with the Folio packaging, where the retaining clips that hold the book in place have a tendency to break in transit. This is because some are made of fragile plastic, as opposed to the metal. Scotch Whisky Auctions cannot guarantee that these will arrive intact if shipped. The quality of the tin is extremely fragile and prone to denting.
