Lot number: 104-02147

Winning bid: £80

In 1749, Italian Giacomo Justerini travelled to London to try to win the heart of famous opera singer, Margherita Bellino; despite failing to do this, he stayed in the capital and established a wine merchant with George Johnson. In 1831, the business was acquired by Alfred Brooks and thus the name was born.

Skillfully blended from 42 single malt and grain whiskies, the heart of which come from Speyside, J&B Rare - a light-coloured whisky - was specifically blended for the American market during Prohibition.

J&B Ultima is the ultimate blend of 128 Malt and Grain Whiskies. Many of the whiskies used from older distilleries have now closed and disappeared - Glen Albyn, Rosebank, North of Scotland and Littlemill to name but a few. Each distillery used is named on the side of the box.
