Launched by William Grant - founder of the Glenfiddich distillery - in 1898, Grant's is Scotland's oldest continuously family-run, blended whisky maker. William's rise from cattle herder to whisky baron is one of the great tales in Scotch. In 1903, William employed his son-in-law Charles Gordon and six years later he embarked on a world tour spreading the word about Grant's (or, as it was then called, Grant's Standfast after the clan motto: 'Standfast Craigellachie') and making the brand into the worldwide success it is today.

This blended whisky that was named after the Gordon Highlanders regiment of the British Army, which William Grant was made a Major in the volunteer battalion in 1897, which existed from 1881 to 1994.
