This classic bourbon can trace its history back to 1796 when Basil Hayden was adding a greater amount of rye to the mash bill to create his signature style of bourbon. Legend has it that Basil set out to produce a batch from the ingredients he had on hand, unaware of the 'rules' of bourbon-making. Although purists at the time may not have liked the result, the Noe family continue to create high-rye, small batch bourbon to this day in honour of Basil's first recipe.
Blended with Canadian rye and port.
