Lot number: 104-06575

Winning bid: £95

In Louisville, Kentucky in 1870, George Garvin Brown filled and sealed a glass bottle of bourbon for the first time striving for consistency and quality in all future bottlings. He named that spirit Old Forester after Dr. William Forrester who worked as a pharmaceutical salesman: the second 'r' was dropped from the surname when he retired. During Prohibition, the company now known as Brown-Forman were able to legally produce alcohol for medicinal purposes. This allowed sales to stay steady during this period and helped the huge popularity boost after the act was repealed.

From the Old Forester website: "1910 Old Fine Whisky, Old Forester’s fourth and final expression in the Whiskey Row Series, is a double barrelled bourbon creating a smooth mingling of sweet oatmeal raisin cookie and milk chocolate, caramel corn, and evolving spice that lead into a refined, charred oak finish."

46.5% ABV / 75cl
