The North British Distillery company was originally founded in 1885 by a conglomerate of blenders who were tired of DCLs monopoly on grain whisky. The distillery was built in the Gorgie district of Edinburgh, and grew rapidly over the years, with their continuous stills currently able to churn out between 35000 - 40000 litres of spirit every hour. Ironically the company is now partly owned by Diageo, the very company it was set up to oppose.
This is a 20 year old limited edition blended whisky handed out to the guests at the retiral dinner of David Rae who was the managing director of the NB Distillery for many years.
