Lot number: 110-03041

Winning bid: £25

Given the success and cult-like fan base that Ardbeg has recently enjoyed, it is almost impossible to imagine that the distillery was closed, on and off, for 15 years until it was purchased by Glenmorangie. Sitting on the southern coastline, the current distillery was founded in 1815, the original having been destroyed by excise men. The Ardbeg spirit still is fitted with a purifier which many believe accounts for its fruity, zesty character.

The Ardbeg An Oa is the first new core release from Ardbeg in ten years. Its name, taken from the Mull of Oa, the most southern point of Islay, defines particular characteristics. All from the perfect combination of sweet Pedro Ximenez casks along with the charred virgin oak and the robust Bourbon casks, give this Ardbeg its own punchy personality.

46.6% ABV / 5cl
