Lot number: 110-04809

Winning bid: £55

In 1869 the Ripy brothers opened their distillery on Wild Turkey Hill in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. Wild Turkey Bourbon got its name in 1940 when distillery executive Thomas McCarthy took samples of the bourbon on a wild turkey hunting trip.

The distillery praises their master distiller Jimmy Russell who is the longest-tenured active master distiller in the world and learned techniques from Ernest W. Ripy, son of the original distiller. Famous in the bourbon world, Jimmy Russell has been at the distillery through consistent success after success.

Wild Turkey Forgiven is a blend of 78% six-year-old bourbon and 22% four-year-old rye whiskies. According to hearsay, it was originally produced after a mix-up at the distillery but they realised it was so good that they released it.

45.5% ABV / 75cl
