Autumnal greetings and welcome to our 112th September auction! Weather is setting in = drams O’clock yeah? Well either way we hope to try our best to take you out of those potential lockdown lows with a fine spread on offer.

Catching our eye this month with its ominous chic look is the Ardbeg 1815. The vatted spirit from 1974 and ‘75 from bourbon and sherry casks was deemed too precious to keep maturing, so it was bottled into glass in 2008 to preserve the optimum flavour of the spirit from changing. This signed release - limited to 400 bottles - was bottled to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the iconic Islay distillery.

Anime and whisky your thing? Hey, we’re not judging.. Chichibu has released its 3rd Edition and 4th Edition for the Intergalactic Series with an almost female Grinch looking character on one label. Some come with very fetching face masks too if you’re lucky.

Perhaps not the most eye-catching aesthetically are a modest pair of Dunaverty bottles. These were distilled in Campbelltown and bottled around the mid-20th century by Springbank. A rare little find and a good chance to try something older from the Campbelltown region.

We have a few new releases this month including from a brand new distillery; Nc'nean, which faces Tobermory over the Sound of Mull. Ardbeg have released a second batch of their much-lauded Traigh Bhan as well as a version of the An Oa that comes with a smoker for those socially-distanced autumnal beach BBQs. Instead of their usual Gatherings at the Vaults, SMWS streamed a virtual tasting event to create a Global Gathering and we're lucky enough to have some of their new Vaults Collection 2020 bottlings in this month.

We salute the dynamic creativity of the whisky world during such a strange period - keep powering through!
