Winning bid: £25

A 10 year old, 70cl and bottled at 40% at the Loch Lomond Distillery in Alexandria.

Thanks to our friends at www.scotchmaltwhisky.com for the following:

Inchmurrin is one of a number of different whiskies produced at the Loch Lomond distillery. It is able to produce more than one malt because the distillery uses Lomond stills which are an unusual design pot stills. These pot stills can produce whiskies of different weights because of the rectifying columns in the still head. Grain whisky is also produced on site. As well as the Inchmurrin malt the distillery also produces Old Rhosdhu, Glen Douglas, Inchmoan, Croftengea and the quite heavily peated Craiglodge.

The distillery was converted from a dyeing factory in the mid 1960's and is located very close to Loch Lomond. It actually sits on the Highland/Lowland line, but as its water source is above the Highland line the distillery is considered as being in the Highland region. It was closed in 1984, but reopened again in 1987 and has been in production since.
