A nice quaffable quartet. Oban 14, the 'Classic Malt' from the West Highlands, distilled in Oban town centre. Part of Diageo's Classic Malts series, this is 70cl and bottled at 43%.
Black Bottle, Burn Stewart's eponymous blend, containing (then) all seven of the Islay malts, so before Kilchoman came on stream. 40% 70cl
Black Bottle 15: For a time the famous Black Bottle was also produced at a minimum age of 15 years, but this expression has since been discontinued. This is a very rare expression of a much-overlooked blend which is heavy on Islay malts. Matt black bottle, 75cl and bottled at 43%
Glenfarclas 105 Cask Strength - a superb cask strength whisky, really bold and punchy. In 2004, the Malt Maniacs rated this the best “Bang for your buck” whisky.
700ml and 60%
