The Ladyburn Distillery was built in 1966 in the south west of Ayrshire by William Grant & Sons Ltd.It remained hidden from public view, quiet and invisible, displaying none of the traditional hallmarks of malt whisky distillery. The final production took place on November 15, 1975.

William Grant & Sons has carried out only a very limited number of bottlings of Ladyburn malt whisky, making it one of the rarest malts in the world. When the distillery ceased production the malt master selected the finest remaining casks of Ladyburn and ensured that they be laid down to mature gently. These few casks are the only sign that Ladyburn existed and its brief history remains one of the greatest secrets of malt whisky.

In the history of the distillery there has never been a bottling of Ladyburn Single Cask - until now. Bottled at 50.4%, this 27-year-old is bottle number 161 from cask number 1591. Only 3000 bottles were ever produced.
