"Valinch" is an old whisky term, derived from Spanish and French, for a pipette used for drawing cask samples. Bruichladdich Valinch bottlings are only available from the distillery itself. This one is the 24th Valinch to be released and comes with a wee bit of a story. The local council on Islay rebuilt the pier to enable an oil tanker to dock there. But with a slight... cock up... the tanker was unable to dock there. This obviously amused the boys at Bruichladdich who decided to release a bottle in celebration instead.
