There are very few 1960’s casks of Karuizawa which have been rescued from this lost distillery, the oldest one dating back to 1960. This bottling comes from a 400 litre ex-bourbon cask and is possibly the oldest of this type released. It is clear that this cask has been very carefully looked after for the whisky to be an astonishing 61.3% ABV after 42 years in the wood.
Our standard caveat about the scarcity of Karuizawa applies here, as this is an especially rare bottle even by this distillery's standards!
